GTA 6 release date news: Big Grand Theft Auto update for PS4 and Xbox fans

TAKE-TWO Interactive has provided the latest news regarding the Grand Theft Auto franchise, offering some interesting tidbits before the announcement of the GTA 6 release date.

While Grand Theft Auto gamers on PS4 and Xbox One can look forward to another exciting year of content, the downside means we might have to wait for more news regarding the GTA 6 release date. So far, Take-Two Interactive has only spoken about the massive impact GTA 5 and GTA Online has had for the franchise and how it continues to sell well on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

This has been proven by the recurrent spending from the game, which Take-Two has confirmed remains very strong.
And it was just confirmed by Sony that GTA 5 was the most downloaded PS4 game on the PlayStation Store in January, making it the second month in a row.
This follows the Rockstar title being named the most downloaded PS4 game of 2019, a console ecosystem that has sold well over 100 million units.
But while it’s good news for GTA Online gamers that Rockstar Games will continue to support the multiplayer mode this year, it also diminishes the chances of impending GTA 6 news.
Following its most recent investor earnings call, Take-Two stock dropped, mostly in connection with the poor performance of WWE 2K20.
But there was also the news of Dan Houser leaving his position at Rockstar Games as VP of Creative, which affected company stock prices.
Houser has been connected to some of Rockstar Games biggest titles in the past and will not be involved with the final release of GTA 6.
GTA Online is expected to set new records during 2020

“Sam Houser founded Rockstar Games over 20 years ago, he’s been with the company ever since; he’s president of the label.
“Dan was Vice-President of Creative and he has been on extended leave since last Spring, and he’s decided to move on, and we wish him well.”

“We really value his contributions and there are over 2,000 members of the Rockstar team and so we really believe that it is a team sport, and Sam Houser is a great player-coach.”
It’s great to hear more about the Rockstar team and the level of staff they have now, even if we didn’t hear anything directly about GTA 6.
Another interesting remark made by Zelnick was in regard to the launch of the new PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles in 2020.
He described them as providing a bigger and broader canvas on which to paint on, with both consoles shaping up to be big steps forward from the PS4 and Xbox One.
Developers working for Take-Two studios are excited about what they can bring to the screen using this new tech and that certainly suggests that Take-Two are gearing up for the next-gen move in a big way.
It follows other comments made by Zelnick during the February investors call, regarding the AAA game pipeline in place for 2020.
Zelnick was asked whether the world could expect a new AAA game in 2020, as Take-Two aspires to do this every year.
His response did not reference the Grand Theft Auto franchise directly but did suggest that TT2 could end up missing that target during some years.
Zelnick told the meeting: “So as we always do, you're going to hear our initial outlook for fiscal '21 in May, and our labels, of course, always make our product releases.
“We have set our strategy, as you correctly pointed out, is to have a strong frontline release schedule, both iterations from beloved franchises.
“We have 11 franchises that have sold in at least 5 million units within one release as well as new intellectual property, and we are working on the most robust pipeline in our history.
“That said, we haven't always been able to achieve our goal of having a strong frontline release schedule in every year, even in the recent past.”
Adding: “And of course, at the same time, we'll build our business with those frontline new releases. Given that we're a company that depends on our creative teams to make as close to perfect products as possible, we have to be willing to live with the vagaries of product deliveries.
“And that means, sometimes, we will have thin frontline years. But even in those frontline years, we've been able to deliver really great financial results.”
